Join them in this frighteningly funny point-and-click adventure as they investigate six more standalone cases bringing them to a carnival, the local retirement home, an amateur wrestling circuit and even as far away as Ireland as they do what they can to keep the Darkside at bay. Picking up after the events of The Darkside Detective, McQueen has to save his usually-present (in body, if not mind) sidekick Officer Dooley from the Darkside, so the two can get back to what they do best - investigating the city’s many strange, often paranormal, always paradoxical goings-on. No, he doesn’t smell of fish - it’s a phrase, come on. Whenever you hear a bump in the night, feel a tingle up your spine, or smell something fishy, Detective Francis McQueen isn’t far behind. That’s where The Darkside Detective comes in. Cursed enough that somebody has to deal with it… It’s roughly in the middle of the cursed scale, is what we’re trying to say.Ĭursed enough that it’s a nuisance. Less cursed than say, “Demons are tearing it apart” but more cursed than “always loses its keys” or “often steps in puddles”. A brief recap of the events of "The Darkside Detective" for anyone who hasn't played it and doesn't want to.1 mail-in rebate per customer on exorcism services for hauntings resulting from play.Photo-Realistic* Pixel Rendering (*Depends on your definition of photo-realism).Music from Thomas O'Boyle, a totally-living composer, definitely not undead.Uses both pointing and clicking technology.6 unique cases, the likes of which you’ve never seen before (not a guarantee).A Linux build will also be up on GOG "soon". Having perfect gamepad input support was also a big highlight, being able to kick-back and relax with The Darkside Detective: A Fumble in the Dark was awesome. The Linux version as expected works great, and it's definitely going high up in my list of personal favourites when it comes to point and click adventures. The Darkside Detective deals with magic, the occult, aliens, ghosts and - well, anything! Thanks to this, it feels good to interact with everything and speak to everyone as you just don't know what's coming. Don't expect anything to make much sense though. The writing is absolutely brilliant, as is the atmosphere - everything about it just comes together so nicely. If you usually like point and click adventures, with plenty of comedy, puns, puzzles that aren't completely obvious and a completely weird storyline - this is definitely one you're going to absolute love. Join Detective McQueen as he puzzles his way through six chilling cases, risking life and pixelated limb to solve the macabre mysteries that plague this poor town. The setup here is great though on how it follows along, and the intro was surprisingly funny but you will easily get a lot more enjoyment if you play the first game, which is also an easy recommendation to do. Delouse your room with sage and pack up your travel-sized ouija board, it’s time to re-enter Twin Lakes - America’s 34th most haunted city. Renamed so they can hopefully get around the issue of smaller titles sequels not doing as well. For those who haven't played the first game - fear not, it's a standalone experience even though it takes place after the first game. Spread across six unique cases with a seventh that indicates either there's more to be added (or another sequel?), this point and click adventure definitely delivers on the unusual.
